Suggest Treatment To Get Rid Of Painful Boils On The Buttocks
I m a 28 year old male and I keep getting boils on my buttocks. My HMO Doctor referred me to a surgeon to have it opened and drained. I have had one that went away on it s own, one went away with antibiotics, one has been opened and drained and now I have another one. This is 4 this year; I wanted a doctor. Referral to a dermatologist or internist who might be able to find the underlying cause but my HMO primary care doctor says I don t need anyone but the surgeon. Could the cause be a virus or bacteria and could it be treated proactively instead of getting them surgically opened and drained
Sometimes patients with recurrent abscesses like this have a bacteria called MRSA (methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus) on their body, which keeps causing recurrent infections.
There are ways of testing for this, and if confirmed, can be eradicated using antibiotic ointment and/or a specific kind of bath to kill the bacteria.
So I would suggest discussing this with your doctor to see if they think this would be reasonable to check for.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
