Suggest Treatment To Lose Weight

hello, my name is kayla. I am 5 4 and 180 pounds (considered obese). I live in denton, tx and I am very interested in speaking with a dr that can help me with this and send me in the right direction whether it be a prescription medication that will help me lose weight, or a surgery that my insurance will take care of. I have also had my gallbladder removed 6 years ago and have gained weight every since. thanks

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I will suggest you to first check your body mass index (BMI). If this is more than normal limit, then you have to reduce your weight. Thyroid problem like hypothyroidism also cause weight gain so go for your thyroid function test. Physical exercise is a better way to decrease your weight rather than medicine. Follow some diet plan for reducing weight.

I hope my guidance is helpful to you. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rachana Goswami
