Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Doctor, I am Waheed and I am from Afghanistan. I had my SGOT and SGPT lab test today. My SGOT is 32 (Normal range is 15-37), but my SGPT is 73 (Normal range is 10-45). These normal ranges are shown in the lab result. I had hepatitis two times, once in childhood and once in 1998. I am 33 years old. I am having cholesterol medicine as well. Please kindly advise what I should do to reduce my SGPT.
Your sgot value normal and sgpt not raised two times Hence here no need to take much tension alcohol, drug induced liver affection also can lead raised sgpt. Sometimes, there might be temporary viral infection that also can lead elevated sgpt If your liver enzyme value persistent is high, then work up done with:
- USG abdomen - viral marker like hbsag estimation and Anti HCV ab estimation by Elisa - Serum bilirubin estimation
According to cause further specific treatment plan decided. Overall for good liver health, low fat diet is consumed and fruits eaten more. Avoid alcohol if you are having the habit. Consult gastroenterologist for examination with keeping all this in mind.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Parth Goswami
