Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I recently checked my blood pressure and was alarmed to find out that it was 178/98 I know that's really high. I'm only 24, so I'm really worried that something serious is going on. Besides exercising and eating healthy, what else can I do to have my blood pressure return to normal?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern... Your blood pressure reading of 178/98 mm Hg at age of just 24 years is very high. It will not come only by exercising and eating healthy. You would need to start some Blood pressure lowering medicine as well. You should decrease salt intake. Caffeine containing drinks such as coffee, cola, etc should be reduced to maximum 2 cups per day. If you are obese or over weight, reduction in weight can help to reduce your blood pressure. You should consult a physician, for starting a Blood pressure lowering medicine. This is absolutely necessary to regulate your Blood pressure. Only with life style changes & dietary changes your blood pressure may not become normal.
Refer to your physician Hope this information helps
