Hello,
Welcome to Healthcare Magic.
I have read your question fully and understand your concerns.
With your level of
TSH, you have what we call subclinical
hypothyroidism. You could get
Thyroid Peroxidase antibodies (TPO antibodies) checked. If the titre is high, then you are more likely to become overtly hypothyroid in future. The dilemma whether to start you on
Levothyroxine now depends on how high your TPO antibody titre is. If antibody titre is high, then you could be started on small dose of Levothyroxine. If just minimally raised, then you get the TSH repeated in 3 months and see if TSH is rising or remain static.
Similarly, If TPO antibodies are negative; you could just repeat your TSH in 3 months’ time and see. If your TSH is rising, then you can be started on Levothyroxine, if the TSH remains the same, then you can get serial TSH monitoring done every 3-6 month.
I can advise you to follow a well-balanced diet with plenty of vegetables. Vegetables do not have many calories, and it will fill you up. Restrict potatoes as they have mainly carbohydrates. Restrict processed foods, high calorie high fatty and high sugar content foods. Exercise at least 45 minutes/day.
I am sorry; I cannot suggest a good dietician as I do not belong to Mumbai
I hope this answer has helped you.
Thank you
Regards
