Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
since 2012 I have gained a solid 20-25 lbs. My habits have only gotten healthier, I quit smoking, activity increase, and a much much much better diet. Although I fell off the bandwagon slightly for the better part of a year after moving home to canada, I ve been exercising and eating healthy daily for almost a full year. While i ve seen my bodies shape get slightly better, legs getting slimmer etc, I continue to gain weight and my stomach seems to be constantly large. even after a healthy breakfast and water and perhaps a salad with lean protein for lunch my stomach is massive
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Your efforts to put off weight seem to be alright. Still I would specify few things. - Get your fasting, post meal blood sugar and HbA1c done. Get a complete thyroid function test done. Needful treatment for abnormal test results need to be managed with suitable medication by an endocrinologist / diabetologist - Have a minimum advised diet (800 to 1500 calories) diet with minimum of carbohydrates, plenty of salads, vegetables and fruits. - Drink sufficient water - Daily exercise of 45 minutes per day - Have 6 hours sound sleep.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
