Hi, My name is Elliott, I am a 25 yearold man about 5 10 165-70lbs I have a slightly over active thyroid that caused my heart beat (or so I ve been told) beat extra fast, along with other issues but that is irrelevant. There was a time when it was beating at around 167bpm at rest. So the my primary doc gave me Metropolol Er Succ at 25 mg daily, and recommended me to a endocrinologist to treat my thyroid. I took a pill I believe it was called Tapazol (pardon me, I dont have the script on me at the moment) and eventually my thyroid levels went down to normal so he automatically told me to stop taking the beta blocker. I did but I still experience rapid beats periodically and slight chest pains sometimes, although not that often. And I also read that you should be weened off gently from beta blockers for health reasons depending on the specific situation, which I still consider mine to be unknown. So I took it upon myself to go back on the bblockers that I had left over because there is obviously another underlying issue. Don t get me wrong I totally respect your profession and am not trying to play doctor, but I felt they should have followed up with a cardiologist before making such a rash decision. Basically what my question is, is this gonna be detrimental to my heart, and if not how long will it take to take effect? Also, my current heart beat is about 120 bpm at rest going off me just holding my hand on my heart with a stopwatch, Is that normal? I know that alot of stuff but you can even answer one of my questions I would greatly appreciate it, Thank you so much
