hi.. thanks for writing...i have understood your concerns..
so.. your sister has been diagnosed as a patient of
bipolar disorder..it means u have consulted a
psychiatrist already..then she must be given drugs for control of her symptoms...if she is improving on that treatment then u shud continue giving that drugs to her and shud go for regular follow up visits to your treating psychiatrist..
if her condition is worsening on medication then she requires further evaluation..it can occur if treatment is stopped, or she is refusing to take medications..
u can take her to psychiatry department of AIIMS or MAMC in delhi...
the patients of bipolar disorder in
mania usually given high dose antipsychotics for control of aggression initially associated with a
mood stabilizer medication for stabilizing mood...when the aggression and
restlessness have been controlled the antipsychotic is reduced and gradualy withdrawn..then the patient requires mood stabilizer for long duration..it also acts as a prophylactic medication which decreases the chances of new episodes in the future...the treatment shud be continued for long duration..
so, in my opinion u shud take her to psychiatry department as mentioned above and cooperate the psychiatrist in her treatment..start medication after consultation only and do not stop it without permission of her treating psychiatrist otherwise the relapse would occur..
i hope u ll find this advice helpful....best luck...
