TSH controls the level of thyroxin which is a hormone controlling the metabolism of the body. If level of one rises, the other falls. Although low thyroxine can be a cause of weight gain, for it to occur, there needs to be a disparity between the amount of energy taken in as food and the amount of total energy expenditure. I understand that you have been taking a low calorie diet and are also exercising but still your input is greater than output and there is definite scope of intervention. So give it a consideration. You may try electrical muscle stimulation therapy which is available at many slimming centres. That should help you in losing weight. I justify your doctor's reduction of the dose of thyroxin since TSH level is on the lower side.
