Suggest Ways To Bring Down Gamma-glutamyl Transferase Levels
I quit alcohol for one month before testing my bloods for Gama GT levels. A week before I did the test I got a nasty feverish bug with flu like symptoms and took 8 Paracetamol a day to combat it. Symptoms were down on the dayI did the Test but the results came back with my Gama GT still a bit higher than normal. I hadn't touched any Alcohol so could the Paracetamol have kept them elevated?
Paracetamol can affect the liver but the dose that you were using was appropriate, in addition, it would normally cause increases in the other liver enzymes as well.
If you previously used a lot of alcohol, it is likely that not enough time elapsed for the decrease to affect the GGT levels. If you continue to stay off alcohol it would prevent further changes and there should be improvement.
I hope this helps
