Suggest Ways To Bring Down Sugar Levels While On Steroids
Recently my mom had heart catheterization she had 95% blockage in her heart and they put one stent before that she had wheezing prblm for that they gave steroids to her to that steroids the sugar is going up basically she is a diabetic but all the time her sugar levels are normal after giving this steroids the sugar is going up now she is in insulin. Pls tell me how many days it takes to flush out the medicine.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I have read your description and understand your concern. Blood glucose levels are known to increase while on medications such as steroids. This increase needs to be controlled by altering the dose of insulin or oral hypoglycemic drugs. However, you need not worry much as the steroids given would be only for a limited period and dose will be tapered before it would be stopped. During this time, her blood glucose should be back to normal levels and under control. Kindly consult Physician or Diabetologist for proper evaluation and adjustment of the dose of medications, if necessary. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
