Suggest Ways To Come Out Of Heroin Addiction

Hi, my ex partner was using heroin for 20 years!!
He caused me physical harm and I had stitches above my eye at the beginning of the year and he was arrested. He fled the country, but then came back to Spain, under the idea that he had changed!!!
He was taking subtex in the UK and now is taking Buprex (as we are in Spain), albeit, he denies having a heroin addition anymore.
His moods are very bad and aggressive, he does not sleep well. He gets very agitated in the morning and cant wait to get out the house, using any excuse to get out and is always 'holding his hand out' for money, once he returns he is very happy.
He is not a nice person and is lying about his addition. What can I do??

Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

Your ex partner is using heroin since last 20 years and had physically abused you. He started to take Subtex and now taking Buprex (buprenorphine). His moods are aggressive and he is showing aggression and agitated behaviour. Such type of aggression is common in heroin addiction. Whether he is taking heroin or not can't be predicted. I would advise you to talk to him and consult a psychiatrist for treatment. His behaviour of violence, aggression, history of physical harm to you etc could be occurring due to some mood disorder or bipolar disorder. In bipolar disorder individual start showing aggressive behaviour and may resort to drug seeking behaviour. Drug addiction is also a common complaint in bipolar patients.

Treatment of bipolar disorder will result in improvement of mood and he will become compliant to treatment of heroin addiction. Medicines like Sodium Valproate, Lithium Carbonate etc can be used to reduce the aggression and his symptoms of aggression will improve. Buprenorphin (Buprenorphine Maintenance Program BMT) can be utilised for his addiction of heroin. Visit a psychiatrist for prescription of drugs.

Thanks, hope this helps you
