Suggest Ways To Deal With Pain When Diagnosed With Superficial Thrombophlebitis
I have been diagnosed with Superficial Thrombophlebitis. My leg is only pain free on elevation and with warmth applied. The clot feels to be about 2 inches long. What happens to the clot when it breaks down? Can it be as dangerous as a DVT clot? I work in an office where I can t elevate my leg. Should I be working?

Hello,
Superficial thrombophlebitis pain can be managed easily.
Rest/cold compresses/compression bandages & anti-inflammatory pills like Ibuprofen help. Thrombophobe ointment can be gently applied, provided skin is intact on the thrombus.
In the case of non-healing, removal of thrombosed veins needs to be done in a few cases. Be in touch with your family physician.
