Suggest Ways To Increase The Working Rate Of The Heart

I am a 59 year old male. I had successful mitral valve replacement surgery 6 weeks ago. I went to my cardiologist for an ultrasound of my heart yesterday, and the doctor is telling me my heart is working at 35%. I know that is not good. Can anything be done to increase that percentage, or is this just a result of my surgery?
