Suggest Ways To Manage Anxiety In A Person With OCD
My son is 41 and has been DX d with OCD in the past. He has been on Luvox for many years, A few months ago a NP lowered his dosage from 100 to 50 mg. He has been back up to 100 mg for about a month Right now he is having major Panic Attacks with overwhelming anxiety. We are searching for care in our area and he has an appointment on Wed. with a Therapist. He wants me to leave him alone and just let him be quiet in a dark room. Is there anything else I can do for him. He is eating some but struggling with what he says are scary thoughts. I want to give him the space he needs but I am not sure if I should do more. I ask him if he is in crisis and should have someone work with him right away. He assures me that all he needs is to just rest.
In my opinion, for the time being you should allow him to take rest. If a person likes to keep inside his room without interacting with others or without taking interest in outside activities or day to day life activities, it could be a symptom of depression or even schizophrenia. Detailed evaluation of the case is required. Therefore I suggest consulting a psychiatrist for physical examination, diagnosis and treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
