Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a history of binge drinking and am receiving counseling. My doctor has recommended regular weekly attendance at a group made up of people with drinking problems. I have resisted attending and am nervous about meeting these other people. I also am experiencing slight trembling of the hands and arms. I am pretty sure I used alcohol to treat my depression. In the past I had a very bad experience with an anti-depressant which actually worsened by depression. I have been sober for about one month.

Suggest Ways To Manage Depression
Hello, Alcohol will definitely worsen depression. So, it is important not to fall back on alcohol while on anti-depressants. Trembling of hands may be due to alcohol withdrawal. Symptoms of alcohol withdrawal may be present during initial days of leaving alcohol, however, the symptoms disappear after a few days. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Shailja Puri , Pathologist and Microbiologist
