Suggest Ways To Manage Pain After Endometriosis Procedure

What can a patient do to relieve nerve pain associated with a procedure to remove endometriosis? I am asking this question as my daughter is currently suffering from extreme nerve pain, after having had the above mentioned procedure performed on her.

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Unfortunately, nerve related pain is a possible complication of any surgical procedure or trauma. It can be temporary or permanent. There are medications that can be prescribed to deal with the nerve pain (neuralgia), such as tegretol, gabapentin, amitriptyline, lyrica, nortriptyline. These are some of the meds used for neuralgia (nerve related pain). They may be used second line, that is, if using ordinary pain killers or more common pain killers, do not help that is naproxen, ibuprofen, or voltaren.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Michelle Gibson James
