The axis of
fracture is not predicted because it needs your report. Stable fracture is the one in which the fracture ends are clean and the fracture bone pieces are not displaced. Un-displaced
fractures can be managed by cast or
splint that prevents the knee mobilization and promotes healing.
Patella or knee cap connects thigh bone to the leg bone. Thigh muscles attached to the patella and the tendon connects the patella to the leg bone. Since, the thigh bones are strong one, it may pull the fractured piece and displace the fracture ends. In displaced fractures, surgical intervention is needed.
Since, the fracture healing needs immobilization for six to eight weeks,
physiotherapy is advised for proper maintenance of the thigh muscles. Weight bearing exercises are also needed for mobilization after recovered from the healing process. Discuss with your orthopedician for further opinion.
