Suggest Ways To Manage Severe Pain While Recovering From Shoulder Injury
I am currently taking Mobic for a shoulder injury and have a sensitivity to NSAID (hx of GERD). I stopped taking it back in November because it wasn t helping any even after a cortisone shot...Had another shot 2 days ago and tried to take it again. It seems to work a little better, BUT stools are starting to get dark :( last dose was last night, first one was 2 nights ago..so 3 doses...question is, is it ok to go ahead and switch over Tylenol right now (today) without having to wait for Mobic to work out of my system.
* As the stool is getting dark and black, GI bleed is the most likely issue after Mobic tablet and the same must be discontinued.
* For pain control at the current level, I would prefer the only local application of heating pad, analgesic spray or ointment containing diclofenac, ketorolac, menthol or camphor.
* Once the stool color becomes normal, I would suggest to start Tylenol with proton pump inhibitor as omeprazole, pantoprazole or others.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
