Suggest Ways To Manage The Side Effects Of Lomotil
I have a problem with what my Dr. thinks is SIBO small intestine bacterial overgrowth. I take Lomotil when needed but the side effects of Lomotil are excessive abdominal bloating and horrible gas. My Dr. gave me some samples of Donnatol but in reading some of the side effects think I may have to stay with the Lomotil and the side effects for me. Is Donnatol addicting with the phenobarbital ingredient and can I take occasionally as needed not on a daily basis?

The phenobarbital amount is small. BUT all of the gut medicines are addicting in that the gut gets used to the medications being there and doesn't work right when they are stopped.
This sets up a bad pattern if the drugs are used for a continuous period of a week or more.
