Suggestion For Suspicious Densities Noted In Left Lung Apex
My chest x-tray says suspicious densities are noted in the left lung apex, heart is normal in size, diaphragm and bony thorax are unremarkable. Impression is suspicious densities as described, suggest apico-lordotic view for further evaluation. What does this mean?
Hello Thanks for your query. to have a better evaluation of any apical densities apico-lordotic view one of the views of chest X-ray is useful. Though in the era of CT scan thorax its usefulness has been decreased. The apical densities may be because of tuberculosis or malignancy commonly which needs to be evaluated properly by a CT scan thorax and CT guided FNAC (fine needle aspiration cytology) to have a cytological examination or biopsy for histopathological diagnoses. In addition to this you should also undergo sputum for acid fast bacilli and sputum for malignant cell examination. You need to consult a pulmonologist soon. Thank you. Regards Dr Arnab Maji
