Suggestion For Treatment Of Headache And Dizziness

My friend hit his head pretty hard all around, for the past few days he has suffered from random headaches, dizziness... He sees things blurry at random, his hands have been shaking non-stop, he feels like his head is being crushed, and now his nose is bleeding. He doesn't have medical insurance.

Neurologist, Surgical 's  Response
Hi, thanks for asking from HCM.

I can understand your concern. Your friend is having symptoms which might be due to
: Chronic subdural hematoma(SDH)
: Non-specific headache
: Hypertension

Chronic SDH is gradual collection of blood and its products around brain. It usually affects elderly, alcoholics, patients taking anticoagulants (blood thinners)> It starts after minor trauma and symptoms appear over a time.

Diagnosis can be confirmed by neurosurgeon by getting CT/MRI brain. It will detect its amount and brain damage. Treatment may be surgical evacuation or serial observation with CT head only.

Non specific headache could be stress headache/tension/migraine. It can be confirmed if all investigations are normal and he is having symptoms only after fatigue/stress. You have to consult doctor. Treatment will include bed rest
painkiller like Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription
Proper 8 hours sleep
Head massage
Avoid bright light/late night work or TV

Hypertension can also cause headache/nasal bleeding/visual blurring/tremors in hands. It can be confirmed by monitoring his BP while having symptoms.
For management, kindly consult physician
Ask him to avoid fatty/heavy food
Salt intake should not be more than 2 gm per day
Morning walk is must
Avoid mental or physical stress
If overweight, reduce weight
Start medication if still BP not controlled.

Hope it will help him. Do not ignore symptoms and consult doctor.

Thanks. Take care..
