Suggestion Of Advice For Chest Pain Caused Due To A Front Flip
Hi. 2 days ago, my 12 year old son did a front flip on a friends trampoline and landed on the top of his back. He seemed ok but was in a bit of pain. The last couple of days though, he has complained of his chest hurting and it hurting to breath. Is this normal? I would imagine he has banged his chin on his chest when landing. He tends to be a child who doesnt cope with injuries very well and will lay on the settee for days if something hurts, so im not sure how bad it actually could be. I dont want to waste a doctors time if its something minor and will go on its own. Thanks.
The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be attributed to musculo-skeletal injury secondary to the fall. Symptomatic management involves warm compress, application of analgesic + muscle relaxant gel, intake of analgesic preparations and adequate rest.
However, if symptoms still persist, then it will be better to consult his Pediatrician/ Orthopedician for proper clinical examination. X ray of the chest will be helpful to rule out any bone or soft tissue injury.
Wishing your son a good health. Take care.
