Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Dear Doctor, We have been married for 7 months and my wife feels it is painful for sexual intercourse and she still feels breaking her hymen will hurt a lot. So please suggest on how to proceed or should we approach a Gynecologist for any further consultation
Hi,
We need to be clear if these are 'feelings' of your wife or if these are real problems. Conditions like vaginusmus could cause painful sexual intercourse. Consultation with Gynaecologist would help to rule out any problems with hymen or other physical causes of pain. Once these are ruled out, i.e. if the Gynaecologist thinks that your wife's difficuties are 'psychological', you could consult a sex therapist who would be able to help you both.
Regards,
Abdul
