Swelling And Tingling In The Ankle. Sprained Ankle?
I think I may have sprained my ankle a week ago. I play roller derby and haven t stopped skating. It only hurt the first two days (I stopped for those days) but the swelling went down but is a little swollen around the ankle bone.now it is tingling and it started to hurt A little when i elevate it but it doesnt hurt to stand or walk on it. except today after work now its more tingling and hurts a little more. What should I do? Does this warrant a trip to the doc?
Normally, it is best to rest the joint or muscle involved in any injury for a few weeks to allow it to heal or prevent worsening of the initial injury.
It would be best to stop skating for a few weeks. You should also consider the use of a compression bandage to reduce the swelling , continue elevating it and anti inflammatory pain killers. These medications which include ibuprofen, aspirin, cataflam, celebrex, would help with the pain and swelling. They should be used on a full stomach.
If you are able to do the above and the pain continues then it would be best to visit your doctor.
I hope this helps
