Swelling In Foot, Towards Toe. Taken Alcohol. On Antibiotics And Celebrex. Was It GOUT?

Hi Dr. Grief.
Few weeks ago just like over night, when i woke in the am,my right foot was swolen at the front where the small toe is towards the arch, and since i don't have insurance coverage,my doctor saw me and gave me antibiotics and celebrex.
He didn't say if it was gout or whatever, and after 7 days or so it's gone, but there's some kind of weird lingering uncomfortable aching feeling on the outside are of the arch.
I used to drink 2 beers with a chaser per day,and nobody in my family ever had gout.
Anyhow,a week later or so,it returned, and he gave me the same meds which took care of it.
Currently i do rehab for rotating cuff tear, and my pt thinks i have jones' fracture
-what's your opinion?
Thank you.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi, thank you for your question.

Jones fracture is fracture in the base of the 5th toe metatarsal bone (outside part of foot). It usually come after twisting injury to the foot.

However as your symptoms improved with antibiotics and Celebrex then Cellulitis (soft tissue inflammation) of the foot is the most likely diagnosis rather than gout.

Best wishes
