Swelling In Leg With Cuts And Redness, Bruised Foot. History Of Bumping Leg Hard. On Medication For Ear Infection. Suggest
I bumped the side of my leg below the knee hard. It's had localised swelling for a week and my foot has bruises along the side and is swollen a little too. The swelling is on the outside of the leg there are a few minor cuts. The leg does not hurt at all, even with the bruising around the ankle. It is a little red around the cut at the top of the bump. I am also taking antibiotics for an ear infection but no other medication.
Hi ! It seems that due to the blunt injury to your leg, you developed bruise and a hematoma giving rise to the swelling. It might have also been infected, but possibly controlled by the antibiotics you took for the ear infection. I hope you are immunized against tetanus. If there is no pain as mentioned by you, I would suggest you to give complete rest to the injured part and keep it elevated while sitting and sleeping above the body level, which should help in the swelling getting reduced. In case it does not, and goes on increasing, then you will have to consult your family physician initially, and then to a orthopedic specialist if need be. Good luck.
