Swelling Of Tonsils, Sore Throat, Coughing Up Bloody Mucous After Viral Infection. Suggestions?
Hello! I had a viral infection that cause my tonsils gland to swell and my throat so sore I could not eat...today it seemed a little bit better but I felt like there was something stuck in my throat. All of a sudden it felt like my sinus was draining and I could feel something gather in my mouth and saw that it was blood... What could this be? I still feel like a little bit is stuck in my throat and I have coughed up quite a bit of mucousy blood..
The lining of the respiratory tract would be inflamed as a result of the viral illness. Sometimes this inflammatory process can result in a small amount of bleeding.
This should resolve with the viral illness.
You can consider monitoring it or visit your GP if you remain concerned.
I hope this helps
