Swelling On Back Of Hand After Puncture In Palm By Screw Driver. History Of Bleeding For Couple Of Minutes. Tetanus Shot Up To Date. Normal?
Thank you! My husband punctured the palm of his hand with a screw driver tip. The puncture wound is clean and looks good, however, the back of his hand is swelling. He has been icing it all evening. Tetanus shot is up to date. Is swelling normal due to the impact of the puncture? It is not that deep and bleeding lasted only a couple of minutes.
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. The swelling that you have is due to a soft tissue injury in the area and a hematoma. This is likely to heal on its own in next 2-3 weeks. Please do not worry. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Praveen Tayal , drtayal72@gmail.com
