Swelling Under Armpits, Getting Worse, Swelling Spreading To Breast. Cause?
I have had a long-term issue with swelling under my armpits that has gotten progressively worse over the years and it is now causing swelling in my breasts. I am a 48 year-old female and have had mammograms, etc. but haven't been able to determine the root cause.

Hi thanks for asking on HCM.
Swelling in armpits may be due inflammation of axillary tail(breast tissue spreading to axilla). That is why, it is spreading to breast also. It can be due to infection or some benign disease of breast tissue or the lymph nodes in axilla or due to some malignancy.
A General Surgeon can help you. Some Surgeons specialize in breast surgery also. He will be the best person to guide you.

Sorry to hear about your problem. The swellings which you are complaining of could be accessory breast tissues in the axilla (armpit). This is the most common site for these tissues. Did they increase in size during pregnancy?
If they increased in size during pregnancy, then they are definitely accessory breast tissues.
They can be removed via a routine surgery.
