Swollen Abdomen, Stomach Ache. History Of Angina. Gurgling Stomach Noises, No Diarrhea Or Wind. Any Thoughts?

I have noticed that I have developed rather a large swollen abdomen. With a normal unchanging body weight of about 10stones it is unnerving to have such s large tummy. Within the last 2 weeks I have also had quite a severe stomach ache which my GP is aware of. I have suffered from angina for about 2 years and take daily medication for that with no apparent side effects! My stomach produces gurgling noises occasionally but do not have wind or diahorrea. Any thoughts? Richard.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Swollen abdomen can be caused by bowels obstruction. Due to this condition gas and stool gets blocked in the intestines, accumulates there and causes "swollen abdomen". Gurgling can indicate impeded stool passage or gas which has no way out.
The reasons of bowels obstruction can be colon cancer, inflammatory bowels disease, abdominal adhesions.
As you are an angina patient, your intestinal blood vessels can also be narrow what can lead to intestines ischemia.

I suggest you to visit your doctor, have abdominal X-ray, abdominal ultrasound, blood work and colonoscopy as a next step.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
