Hi, From your history it is suggestive that your husband is suffering from conjunctivitis. It may be viral/ bacterial or allergy type. If there is discharge associated with swelling and redness it may be bacterial/ viral conjunctivitis. If there is more of itching and redness it may be allergic conjunctivitis. So try some antibiotic drops 4 times a day along with tear substitute 6 times a day. If the signs and symptoms are not subsiding in 5 days show to your nearest ophthalmologist. TC...

Hi..
Thanks for the query..
Is there any discharge coming out of the eye?
It could be chemical conjunctivitis or an infective conjunctivitis..
Better to consult an ophthalmologist for proper evaluation.
In the meanwhile you can use some lubricating eye drops..
Take care...

Ophthalmologist Dr. Dadapeer K's  Response
Hello,
It seems from the history you have provided of redness, swollen eyes, irritation following swimming in salt water pool are suggestive of infection of the eye most commonly conjunctivitis. Since it is acute in onset it is probably bacterial in origin.
The treatment of the condition depends on the type and severity of the infection.
Hence I advice you to contact your eye doctor for examination and treatment.
Thank you
