Swollen Thumb, Itching And Darker Color Than Other Fingers. What Could This Be?

My left thumb at the tip of my finger is swollen with a burning sore sensation that itches as well at the site. I have not injured it or anything. The color is slightly different being a little darker in color from the rest of my fingers where it's swollen. I am not a diabetic or have any medical conditions. What do you think this may be? What do you recommend to take or do? Thanks

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The swelling in the thumb with darker color can be due to an infection in the area or a vascular compromise. You need to get it examined as systemic antibiotics may be needed for treatment.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
