Swollen Thumb, Red With Burning Sensation, Reoccurring. Removed Gall Bladder Last Year. Remedy?

Hi Doctor,
This is a second or third time that the problem has occurred. The lower inside of my thumb, this time is my left, gets swollen, red and darkened after a sharp and burning sensation pain. It happens so suddenly, that I don't know what causes it. I was washing my hands with warm water, never use cold water.
I'm a 42 years old female, who beside removing my gallbladder last year, is healthy otherwise.
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Have a great evening,

Sincerely,

Anila

Hi thanks for your question.
Infection of thumb twice without any reasons means either the initial infection was not treated completely and sub acute infection remain there or the phalanx of thumb has developed osteomylitis that is infection of bone, which is difficult to treat, unless curetted out (small surgical procedure) by orthopedician .Consult an orthopedic surgeon who may get X Ray of your thumb done to confirm/ rule out osteomylitis and if some material is coming out from the thumb, he same may be send it for culture sensitivity.Gall bladder surgery has nothing to do with this infection.
Hope this answers your question
