Ok, first of all, WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT TAKE
ASPIRIN. while it does decrease your chances of a
heart attack as it is an anti-thrombotic. it is not reccomended for anyone under the age of 20, as it can lead to Reyes syndrome which can kill you. Hence, no aspirin for you.
You are
overweight, and if you have been for a while, it means your heart has been working harder and pumping harder to supply your body with blood to meet its needs. for this reason, though you are still young, your heart may be overworked and hence you are experiencing symptoms that someone a lot older than you, and hence with an older more exhausted heart, would experience. because you are still young however, with some hard work, you can still be healthy.
first of all, you need to start exercising. first, start slowly, brisk walking for 20 minutes, making sure you feel a bit tired and your
heart rate increases at the end of your exrcise routine, and gradually building up from there. I say gradually, and mean it. So do the brisk 20 minute walking for a week, if not more, and then bring it to 30 minutes. eventually, you can start jogging. once again gradually. maybe try jogging a mile a day, lightly. as you exercise more and more, your heart will get stronger, you will not lsoe your breadth as much and thats when you will know you can intensify your workout a bit more.
now, along with the exercise (which is essential if you want a healthy heart), you must change your diet. I am sorry to say, but you may have to be tough on yourself. Avoid foods with saturated fats, meaning anything fried, butter, full fat cheese, and non-lean meat. you can still have all that but with moderation (thoguh to be honest you could probably cut out fried food altogether and it would not hurt you at all). replace french fries (chips) with baked potatoes (without butter and topings) or vegetables (even better). opt for smaller portion sizes. Instead of getting a cheeseburger with bacon, opt for a plain burger (no cheese) with ketchup. you can still have food you like, just a bit healthier. Cut back on processed food. Dont eat many chips, avoid cookies, brownies and the likes. treat desert as the "treat of the day" and limit yourself to one (yes just one no more). Ask your mom to buy you skimmed milk instead of full fat, and replace ice cream with frozen yoghurt. if you are hundry munch on things like carrots and fruits.
i know everything i have said sounds tough, and you dont necessarily ahve to implement everything (though that would give you the best results). Take everything one step at a time, and dont forget to indulge occasionally. just not everyday or most days.
hope this helps, and good luck!
ps. in response to the person further down from my post suggesting that you can take aspirin as their kids took it and no reyes syndrome, once again, please don;t listen. reyes syndrome is not something extremely common but as a medical student i can tell you that we are taught never to let adolescents take aspirin, and if you went to your doctor you'd find they would never prescribe you it either.part of teh reason no one knows of people getting reyes syndrome is because adolescents are no longer prescribed aspirin, and most parents know not to give ti to their kids. be careful whose advice you take on this website because it seems people who are not trained to prescribe anything take on the role of doing so. and often times, they are not knowledgable enough to do so.
