Taken Acetaminophen 2000 Mg Sometimes To Just Prevent A Nasty Hangover After Drinking Alcohol. Could It Have Harmed The Body?

There has been a lot of talk on acetaminophen. Some of it is scary. It s actually a two part question. I ve taking this drug for 30 years. Some of it with alcohol. Some times I would take four tablets (2,000 mg) after drinking just so I would not wake up with a nasty hangover. To date, the ONLY time it has ever given me stomach problems is when I haven t eaten anything. Due to my body s reaction, would it appear that I can metabolize the drug correctly for it to not harm me? And/or can this be a slow killer-too much for too long? Or does it only harm when taken a lot at one time? Note: I am not a chronic drinker, social only and I don t take it every day.

Hi. I have read your question. Acetaminophen is a relatively benign drug with a very safe side effect profile. This drug is metabolized by the liver as is alcohol. A combination of alcohol and acetaminophen adds to the toxicity of both things and it can cause damage to the liver. 4200mg per day dose is within the safe limit for an average weight guy so 2000mg won't hurt your liver.
But I would suggest you cut down on alcohol as binge drinking is equally harmful as chronic alcoholism. Acetaminophen won't hurt your liver but alcohol will. Furthermore the stomach ache you have is not due to this drugs its due to the gastritis caused by alcohol and spicy foods.
So to summarize, eat healthy and cut down on alcohol
