Taking Diazepam For OCD. Is It Okay To Drink Alcohol?
Hey, I have been prescribed diazepam and an anti drepressent by my doctor (this was a few weeks ago) the medication is to calm me whilst I wait to start counselling for intrusive thoughts/OCD. I think the last time I took the diasepan was Friday I was taking 1-2 for just over a week maybe a bit more. I'm meant to be going out for Girlfreinds birthday this Saturday, would it be ok to drink alcohol if I don't take any more diazepam and I'm on one anti depressant a day (20mg of Citalopram) I'm not going to go crazy but I would like to let my hair down and have some drinks and a few shots just to have a little bit of normality for a while ?
Hello....
Thanks for your query. I understand the emotional turmoil you are undergoing in the form of depressive disorder. I would suggest you to avoid alcohol use since though it appears to temporarily calm you down, it can induce anxiety as well as depressive symptoms.
You can continue taking antidepressant in the prescribed dosage. It would require close to 8 weeks to appreciate an improvement in terms of your OC symptoms. Wish you good health.
