Taking Duromine As Child Stopped Taking Breastfeed. When Can I Restart Breast Feeding?

My son started teething at 3months and would no longer breastfeed, my doctor prescribed me duromine 1month ago and have been on it, now my son is 5months and wanting to breastfeed again, my milk is still flowing, when can I attach him again? It has been 24hrs since my last pill, if I can breastfeed my son again I will most deffinately stop duromine.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Duromine is the trade name for a medication called phentermine. It has a half life of 16 to 31 hours.

Half life is the time it takes for the amount of medication in a person's system to decrease by half. It has been 24 hours since your last pill so the amount in your blood stream would have already halved.

The general belief is that medication should be out of your system after 3 to 4 half lives.
If you can wait another 3 to 4 days, you can restart breast feeding.

Because your body needs alot of calories or energy to make breast milk, consistent breast feeding can help with weight loss once you use a healthy diet.
It burns off energy.

I hope this helps
