Taking Estrogel And Prometrium For Hot Flashes. Hair Is Thinning. On Synthroid. Solution?
I have been taking estrogel & prometrium for almost 5 years. I am 58 years old and am taking it for hot flashes. In July 2009 I noticed my hair thinning quite a bit and to this day it still is as far as I'm concerned. I made my doctor test my thyroid and he put me on 25mg of synthroid, said I was low normal. It helped with the amount of hair loss in the bath but I still feel its breaking or thinning. Luckily I always had a massive amount of hair so a lot of people think I'm crazy, I'm not. I would like to know if this could be caused by the estrogel & prometrium and if I should get off it. Thank you.

You have hypothyroidism
and hair fall is one of the commonest thing seen in hypothyroidism.
Since you are on medication slowly you will recover.
keep taking medication.
In addition you can use minoxidil lotion.
