Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Taking Losartan. Increased Blood Pressure. Can Medicine Be Stopped?
I have been taking 50mg of Losartan for 45 days. Read the recent results of the study that said that several BP lowering products(Losartan included) caused cancer in a major clinical test. My BP prior to taking was always about 125/72 Doc put me on because I went to hosptal ER and that time only my BP spiked to 150 for about three hours. I am going to stop and want to know if I can stop without tapering off. Thank you I want to stop taking now.
It would help if you discussed the matter with your doctor before stopping the drug.A single study really has no relevance unless it is substantiated by other further studies.I would take such reports with a pinch of salt, and discuss them with my physician.
