Taking Metformin And Hydrochlorothiazide. Thick Feeling In Feet, Ankle Swelling, Pins And Needle Feeling In Feet. Reaction?
I am on Metformin and Hydrochorothiazide. Lately I have noticed a thick feeling in my feet. Example when I go to bend my toes down and inward they become tight. I have also noticed a lot of ankle swelling. My blood sugars fun from 4.7 - 7.5. I test twice a week 4 times a day. At night my feet will well as if they are waking up that needle and pin feeling. Could this be some kind of a reaction?
Hello, Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum. You are a patient of diabetes ( most probably type 2 ) and you are having metformin and hydrochlorothiazide i.e. for diabetes & as diuretic . In spite of this you are still having swelling over ankle joints . This is an inidcation the swelling is dependent type . May be due to . 1 Chronic renal failure , diagnosis can be confirmed by renal function tests. 2 Anemia is other possible reason of swelling , get in blood for hemoglobin level 3 Hypoproteinemia , diagnosis can be confirmed by assessment of protein level. In my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion about kidney . Good luck. Dr, HET
