Taking Potassium Cl 10 Meq Ercap Zydu. How Long Does The Releasing Extend?

Hello: I am taking Potassium CL 10 MEQ ERCAP ZYDU. I understand it is extended release. After I take the pill, how long does the releasing extend? - 8 hours, 10, hours, all day, 24 hours? I find taking it at bedtime causes me less side effects; but am I not getting the benefit during the next day? I did not know I had to pay for this. I will ask my pharmacist for free. I wish my e-mail and age, etc deleted. Thank you.

1. Potassium Chloride [KCl] Extended-Release Capsules, 10 mEq are oral dosage forms of microencapsulated potassium chloride containing 750 mg of potassium chloride USP equivalent to 10 mEq of potassium.
2. Potassium Chloride Extended-Release Capsules, 10 mEq are electrolyte replenisher which means each crystal of KCl is microencapsulated by a process with an insoluble polymeric coating which functions as a semi-permeable membrane; which allows for the controlled-release of potassium and chloride ions over an eight-to-ten-hour period. [not for 24 hours].
3. since there are increased chances of intestinal and gastric ulcerations with use of these capsules, consult with your Doctor for liquid preparations of the same [if tolerated] and also for kidney function tests.
4. make sure you are not taking potassium supplements in your diet which may result in dangerous hyperkalemia [high potassium levels], things to avoid are: banana, tomato, potato, cheese, coconut water, fruit juices, papaya, chocolates.

PS.
i. to remove potassium from leafy vegetables, cut them into small pieces, and keep in water for 2 hrs. Then throw the water, and cook the vegetables.
ii. take capsule without crushing, chewing or sucking, [Potassium Chloride Extended-Release Capsules, 10 mEq should be taken with meals and with a full glass of water or other liquid] and check with your physician if you notice black tarry stools or other evidence of gastrointestinal bleeding.
iii. check regularly with serum potassium level [lab investigations].
iv. keeping in view the above adverse drug effects don't ask it for free rather consult with a doctor and get it after prescription.
