Taking Seroquel For Anxiety . Trying To Get Off. Side Effects Sugar, Cholesterol And Liver Enzymes Are High. Treatment?

I am trying to get off of Seroquel XR 350 mg. Been taking it for about 2 years for anxiety and surgery related PTSD. The side effects are unacceptable...weight, sugar, cholesterol and liver enzymes are off the charts. Have tried to cut to 300mg ( with docs approval) but had nausea, vomiting, shakes, anxiety thru the roof. I went back up. I called Astrazeneca for their weening protocol and was told they have none!! Any ideas? I take no other medications.

Hello.Quetiapine is a good drug but causes side effects that you say.
For The treatment of PTSD there are effective drugs without these adverse effects.I treat my patients with paroxetine to 20 mg per day + Diazepam 5 mg thrice a day When PTSD is the diagnosis. Please consult to your psychiatrist to assess medication change or combine quetiapine (at lower doses) with the drugs mentioned.I wish you good health.
