Hi doctor.. My 6 yr old son has been taking antibiotic since he had fever and seen through urinalysis that he has high pus cells in his urine.. Maybe its been 20 days now..but during his check up awhile ago, it has been found out that the pus cells have have already increased again.. He has no symptoms of difficulty in urinating ir anything..i am jus worried what could be the reason of this.. He will be having ultrasound tomorrow to see better whAt seems to be wrong with him..what could be the pissible reason for this?thank you very much..
Presence of significant pus cells in urinalysis suggests that he is suffering from Urinary tract infection. It may or may not show any symptoms. One of the possibility for the infection to persist even after the usage of antibiotics may be resistance to the antibiotics used. Along with ultrasound, he may need a test called urine culture and sensitivity with which we can find out the antibiotics for which he is sensitive and resistant. Then the appropriate sensitive antibiotics can be started with doctor's advice. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have have any clarifications.
