Taking Citalopram For Suicidal Thoughts And Anxiety. Symptoms Getting Worse. Stop The Medication?
hi my husband has been taking citalopram 20mg for 7 weeks and not getting better has sucicidal thoughts, cant be left alone, has loads of anxiety, and all mentioned side effects , now last 2 days trembling and shaking legs, i am really worried tablets making him wirse, should he stop taking them ? he was taking diazapram alone side of his medication but reduced the does as instructed and now off it for 6 days could it be coming off this making his symptoms worse, please help . i dont know what too do for him
Your husband is appear to have severe depression. Do not stop medicine. If he is not responding to 20 mg of citalopram for 7 weeks, then in such cases medicine doses need to be increase or some other medicines should be added, which should be done under psychiatrist supervision only after reevaluation of case for poor treatment response.
As he is having self harm ideas and poor response to treatment, then it is better to get him admitted in psychiatric facility, under 24 hour supervision.
Wish you good health and all the best.
