Taking Mirapex For Sleeping. Sex Drive Depleted. Side Effects If Medication?

I am 18 years old taking mirapex .5 mg as a sleep aid every night. I have been taking it for 3-4 months. I am not on any other medications or using drugs recreationally. Recently, I have noticed my sex drive has been completely depleted. I cannot for the life of me get intrested even when I'd like to. Also, I have had difficulties achieving and maintaining an errection when I have brought myself to get into the mood. Until a few weeks ago I could always get in the mood and have had no issue achieving or maintaining an erection. I have decided to stop taking the mirapex and was wondering how long it wwill take to get out of my system and if this horrible side effect will be gone?

Hi,
Thanks for writing in. Loss of sex drive and inability to have erection has been reported as one of the side effects of mirapex. Since you have been taking it for past 3-4 months I would advice you not to stop it before talking to your doctor.
You may need to use it less and less before stopping the medication completely.
Consult your doctor regarding tapering and substituting mirapex with any Benzodiazepine or anxiolytics to aid u in sleep.
Reversal of the side effects might take a few days to weeks.
Hope this helps.
