How Does One Improve Sleeping Patterns?

Hello , I have sleep deprivation. Most nights I am lucky to get 5 hours of sleep. My husband is slightly overt and snores. I have bipolar, depression, restless legs, seizures, chronic back pain. I already take Depakote, Keppra, Trazadone, Mirapex, Effexor, Robaxin, and Norco, along with the vitamins and rx meds I take in the am.What can I do to help myself. I have a back brace, and walker for unsteady days.

Dear HCM User

I can understand its overwhelming to be coping up with so many health issues, but it seems you are doing well by continuing your medications. In addition try these simple steps to improve your sleep pattern known as sleep hygiene.
Avoid napping during the day.
Avoid stimulants such as caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol too close to bedtime.
Start exercising in morning or late afternoon.
Stay away from large meals close to bedtime.
Establish a regular relaxing bedtime routine like reading, calm music. You can shift your husband to other room if snoring disturbs you.:-)
Do not bring your problems and worries to bed. Bedtime should be relaxation time.
Associate your bed with sleep by using it just for that and not for watching TV, laptop, mobile.
Sleep and wake-up at fixed timings.
Have a glass of warm milk just before sleeping.
Take a warm water bath before sleeping.
Also some of the medications are activating and need to be adjusted according to your symptoms. As you are on a lot of medicines please try to taper some in consultation with your present prescriber.
Hope this will help you sleep better.
