Taking Risperidone For Autism. What Are The Risks If Medicine Is Not Taken?
My son is 14 years old and has autism he is now been prescribed rispardon to address some of his behaviours.I am very worried to give him the drug because of several side effects his autism is moderate to severe with severe learning difficulties.if we do not give him drugs is there a chance that his autism gets worse eg rigidities obsessive and strereo type behaviours he already has them all but we are managing he is also non verbal ....Thanks
At the outset let me inform you that all medicines have some or the other side effects and we have to weigh the benefit of the medicine against the problem and accordingly give the medicine. As your son has moderate to severe autism then we need to ensure that his development is as normal as possible for which the side effects of the medicine has to be tolerated. I suggest that you work in close coordination with the treating doctor who shall monitor the dosage of the medicine depending on the response.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
