Taking Tysabri For Relapsing Remitting Multiple Sclerosis. Tested Positive For Papovirus. Pounding In The Head. Are These Related?
I just had an MRI on thursday, I've had many MRI's in the last 10 years but this was my first experience in a 3.0 Tesla imaging unit. I have relapsing remitting multiple sclerosis and am on Tysabri as my disease modifying drug, I have tested positive for the JC virus {papovavirus} and so my MRI's are to watch out for possible signs of PML. My head has been pounding off and on since thursday and I was wondering if this is common in higher Tesla MRI's.
Hi, Thank you for posting your query. It is possible to get headaches after 3.0 Tesla MRI and several of my patients have also complained about that earlier to me. I am not sure of the exact reason, but may be related to noise or higher magnetic field. It settles down in a few days. Wishing you a favorable MRI report. Please get back if you require any additional information.
Best wishes,
