Teeth Coming In Baby, Red, Swollen Upper Gums, Red Rash On Face. Is This Due To Teething?
Good morning, my baby girl is 10 months, her 1st bottom 2 teeth came out at 7 months, her upper gums has been swolen and very red for the last 2 months but no teeth! She lately has a tiny red rash on her face (tiny red spots), especially around the mounth area and then below her one eyelid . Could this be from teething?
hi,
the issue with gums being red and swollen is due to a few reasons.. first because of underlying teeth trying to erupt and it may take its own course in each baby so nothing to worry if it has not erupted yet.. next this is the time when new foods will be introduced to the child so the whole chewing process may cause the redness.. and now baby tries to mouth any object and tries to chew it this may also cause the redness.. so nothing to worry..
tiny red spots on face is not related to the teething.. may be due to contact with a new surrounding or cloth or dirt which may give rise to allergy like reaction in the child with tiny red spots but this is self limited so nothing to be done..
Swollen gums are due to the errupting teeth, it is a normal phenomenon so you need not to worry, the tooth will take its own time to errupt and the swelling will reside as soon as the tooth is errupted.
Other than this there can be food lodgement, if new foods are introduced to your child so during chewing the child may exert little pressure on the gums pads leading to redness.
Tiny red spots on the face is not related to teething it can be due to some type of allergic reactions.
I would suggest you to maintain a good oral hygiene of your child.
hello swollen upper anterior gum is due to teething process which is normal procedure and you need not worry for that redness may be due to introduction of new food that your child is trying to chew for this you need not worry ,just maintain god oral hygiene of your girl for this you can do following 1.swap her gums with cotton soaked in luke warm saline water after every feed now about your 2nd concern regarding red rash on her face...that may be due to some allergic reaction and have nothing to do with teething process they will subside ina few days time and if they dont or increase in area than you may need to visit your physician to get it sorted out best wishes
